Write something set in another planet or universe.

As I was typing up my story for the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons (the story you'll never see), I wondered how other people start writing stories. So I'm gonna tell all of you how I start writing! 1. Get an ideaI can get inspiration from a lot of stuff. Photos, songs, films, books, YouTube videos, other pieces of writing. Sometimes I borrow an idea to make a story or poem of my own. One word can be enough to spark an idea, as learned from the 100 Word Challenges on fanfiction.net. Usually an idea marinates in my mind to the point where the only need in life is to write a story about it! There's honestly nothing more distracting to me than doing schoolwork and thinking about the story prompt in the back of your head. Usually I have a specific part of the story that I know is gonna happen, and then I just create around that part. 2. Think of a title
3. Start! This is the part that takes a while for me to do. I just start writing. I imagine what a scene would look like and then I describe it. This part actually has a few sub-parts. Including: 4. Think differently
5. BackspaceOr, if I'm writing in my journal, scribble out/use white-out. The writing process with pen and paper is a bit messier because a page can have a bunch of scribbles and crumbly white-out bits. I sometimes type things out on my laptop, but then I feel guilty for some unknown reason. I feel like I'm abandoning my journal, which is honestly inexplicable. 6. Take breaks7. Think of new ideasWhile I do like to have a general summary of what's going to happen in a story, I also enjoy to think of new ideas for later on the story. Very rarely do I write one part of the story set in the middle/end before inserting parts around it. I'm a go-with-the-flow writer for the most part. 8. Complete the workSo writers out there: how do you do yo bizness? I'm curious!
I have a not-so-secret love for cheesy puns and pick-up lines. Some of the ones I find are actually very clever, so here's your dose of humor for today. The majority of these aren't mine!
"I'm pretty sure somebody hid the final paragraph of my essay on a shelf I can't reach, but I don't want to jump to conclusions." "A guy is taking his girlfriend to prom. He waits in the ticket line for a really long time but gets them. He goes to rent a limo. The rental line is really long but he eventually does it. He goes to buy her flowers. The line at the florist is really long but eventually he gets the flowers. At prom, she asks him to go get punch. He goes to the refreshment table and there's no punchline." "Hey girl, are you running out of breath? Cuz' you've been running through my mind." "Hey girl, are you the Snow White to my queen? Cuz' I want your heart." "Four guys are on a boat with four cigarettes and no lighter. So what do they do? They throw one cigarette off board and the boat becomes a cigarette lighter!" Wasn't that horribly great? Sometimes I just need something to do. I enjoy writing, but sometimes I need some inspiration. I know it's interesting to give someone an idea and see what they take from it. So here's the plan: you send in one to three words and I'll post a self-written short story based on those words. I won't be writing any short stories on inappropriate words, you know the deal. ambiguous /amˈbigyo͞oəs/ A/N: I don't want to give anything away, but there's definitely some gory themes to this one. Read on if you dare! Date Night by Jazelyn He remembered how he simply couldn't take his eyes off of her in the local cafe. It wasn't that she was completely beautiful, even though she was. After all, he was a sucker for blue eyes and brown hair. Yet there was just a piece of her that drew him in.
"Hey, are you R.L. Stine?" he greeted, sitting casually at her table. "Because you're giving me goosebumps." She looked down and giggled, "Wow, I'm sure you lure in all the ladies with that one. Uh, my name's Bella, like from the Twilight books?" He shrugged. "I wouldn't know, I don't read that weird vampire and werewolf stuff! But my name's Parker." The two chatted over coffee for a while. At first there was nothing to talk about except the weather, but the conversation quickly turned. Apparently they had tons of similarities. They both found that 'N Sync the best band ever, cold and rainy days were appreciated, and they were allergic to peanut butter. Actually, these all applied to Bella. But if it meant Parker would grow closer to her, he was willing to lie. Her phone vibrated on the table. "Ooh, I'm gonna have to go soon. But you seem really nice! I'd love to have you for dinner. I can text you my address later, I'm in a bit of a rush. Let me write down my number for you. . ." Parker was mentally jumping in excitement as she handed him a slip of paper with numbers scrawled on to it. "Thanks. So, about what time? Eight okay?" She smiled as she dug around in her tote bag. "Sounds great. I'll see you later!" He came to her door with flowers. She almost laughed in his sorry face. But she knew she had to wait. "Hi!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around him. "I've got to be honest, I'm really happy I'm having dinner with you tonight," he sighed, handing her the bouquet. She grabbed the fresh-smelling daisies before closing the door behind him. "Um, yeah! Thank you for these, and you know, for coming." "Of course. So what are you making over there?" She glanced at the stove. "Mmm, just a sauce for now. It pairs really well with meat. I'm planning to prepare some steak later." "It's like I'm the steak and you're the sauce! We pair really well!" Parker joked. Bella forced a chuckle. She really couldn't stand his pick-up lines and mediocre jokes, but it would all be worth it. She just had to stick with the plan. She got out a knife and a cutting board before Parker walked up from behind her. "So, do you need any he--" He looked down at the sharp pain in his side. The blade Bella was holding was now stuck in his stomach, dripping with his own blood. "H-help," he croaked. "Oh? You want help?" Bella laughed darkly. "I thought you wanted me to have you for dinner." A/N: iknowthatwasbadbutwhatever Yeah, the ambiguous line was "I'd love to have you for dinner." I thought I could make it obvious at the end, but it didn't turn out how I wanted it. Well, thanks for reading anyway. Copyright 2014 Humans are long gone, but in the quiet ruins of a small town, life has reawakened.
April showers bring May flowers. . . Write about an event that was viewed negatively at first, but then turned out to be not so bad.
Hey. Hey guess what. I just finished Slated by Teri Terry! You know what time it is.
Now the negatives. . . Like with a lot of YA books, this author just had to fit in a romance. Erg. I appreciate the sweet moments. But I didn't really embrace the whole kissy kissy "I'll do anything for you" crap until the last few chapters. Trust me, I love a good romance, but I'm mostly for the opposites attract sort of stuff. Maybe you guys like that sort of blatant crushin'.
Final rating? ★ ★ ★ ★ 4 out of 5 stars! I recommend it for an older audience because of some graphic stuff and drug use. I must read the next parts of the series! But until then, what should I read next? We've all changed one way or another. Write about a major change that's happened in your life.
A/N: I'm starting to teach myself how to write poems. We're gonna do a poem unit in English, and at first, I dreaded it. The more I thought about it, I loved reading poems! I just didn't like the fact that I didn't have any ideas for poems. So now I'm working to enjoy the art, and write a little bit more of it! Brown Eyes by JazelynBlue eyes are the best, they say
They are the clear waters of an island They are the sky on a nearly cloudy day They are a crystal ball, seeing all of you at once But have you seen green eyes? they ask They are the meadow you wish you had in your backyard They are an emerald gem on your granny's necklace They are the stem of a rose, thorny and fierce You are forgetting about gray eyes, they exclaim They are the haze that settles over a city They are the clouds forming around the sun They are a new sweater, cold but so light Yet some boy among the crowd fails to mention brown eyes because he's thinking about a girl and smiling, imagining her sparkling brown eyes and hoping she thinks about his own Copyright 2014 |
