This is it, my small floof buns! The last 20 songs in this 80-song party! Raise your juice boxes for a toast: thanks for the five years of awesomeness! Maybe in another five years we can party up in college :D

Here's to another year of making content for you guys! Have 20 more songs, right here right now, under the cut!
Here's another 20 songs for you to enjoy! I think there's a few more no-vocal pieces than last time, but there's definitely some singing action going on, too. Now click "Read More" for some awesome music!
I already had my sappy moment on the last blog post, so let's just listen to some music! Though the title "Music Time for the Millionth Time" didn't pop up until recently, I think I've always shared music with you guys on this site. Now believe it or not, under the cut is 20 songs that I've never introduced to you guys before! I did say 100 songs, but since I'm apparently horrible at counting, I'll give you 80 for now. Click Read More for some music lovin'!
IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER BREAK FOR ME! It's been a pretty chill morning for me. It's peaceful, this Animal Crossing Chrome extension is giving me life right now, and Daisy and I are just lounging around the house. The only problem is that I haven't eaten breakfast yet, and a morning without food is incomplete. Eat your food, kiddies!
If you guys just can't wait for the celebration of the site's 5th birthday, it is definitely in the works! At least, it will be. I sort of wanted to publish a huge six-in-one review on the Books n' Writing Blog, but I figured I should probably work on this even more massive MTMT (Music Time for the Millionth Time). Copying and pasting HTML codes actually takes more time than you think, especially with my slow laptop. By the way, don't think I'm burdened by doing these sort of things every year. Of course it's for the loyal Inter-friends out there that somehow visit this site everyday. But it's also comforting for me. One of my fears is forgetting about a big event or something else of importance. It freaks me out that things that mattered so much to you can just be forgotten over time. It's the things you love that really show who you are, and if you continue to forget those things, then it's like the pieces of you from certain times in your life disappear. MTMT is a way for me to record music, something that matters a lot to me. It's the same reason I like writing in journals. So what now if I do forget a favorite song in the past? Just open up the archives and relive those first-time-listening experiences! Few things last forever, so hopefully this site will exist long enough for me to revisit all these memories later on. Since I've already started talking about deep stuff, let me go the sentimental route. In the words of many YouTubers, whether you've visited this site for five years or you just found it a few days ago or any time in between, I'm grateful. Admittedly, this site isn't all too impressive. Maybe visitors run dry from time to time. I haven't been able to update as often as I want to, either because of the amount of work I have in school or the lack of things to really say. But the group of people that visit when I haven't even updated, you're awesome. The other creators that have come and gone, you still inspire me. The friends I've made along the way, you hold a special place in my heart. You all motivate me to keep making posts. You make me feel special when there are over 7 billion other people that are probably just as insignificant, if not more special than me. Five years is a lot of time for a young person to learn and develop. Thanks for deciding to stick around. Small round green vegetables!
I only have three half-days of school left, so you know what that means. Strange sentimental stuff. I can't help it, I at least get the tiniest bit of sad whenever a whole school year passes by.
Anyway, the site's birthday is coming up quickly! Any ideas for the celebration? You know every year I have difficulties thinking of how to celebrate. To be honest, I'll probably just do a HUGEEEE music post. 100 songs possibly? I mean, if it's possible. Fun fact: epitome is that one word that sounds like "uh-pit-ih-mee". Another fun fact: Jazelyn has nothing to really say for this post. Well, here, have a teaser for that huge Music Time For the Millionth Time that may or may not even happen: Propeller Seeds by Imogen Heap! It's alright musically, but wow, it's just really cool. Get out those headphones and give a listen! I had my AP European History exam yesterday, meaning I have a lot of time to not do school work! I should be doing an English essay right now, but that's beside the point. In less than three weeks, I'll have completed my first year of high school! It's only so long until my melancholy ramblings on sunny days spent indoors. . . And more music. As if you guys haven't gotten enough music :) I realize now that these blog posts leave me with my fingers frozen over a keyboard, wondering, "Why do people even read this stuff?" I mean, vloggers and stuff always have stuff to talk about because they actually do something other than go to school/stay indoors all day. Soooo, random thoughts? ~Have you guys watched that Rhett and Link vid about Biosphere 2? If not, watch it. Because it's making me wonder what it was like to even be in that crazy glass dome for two years. . . More importantly, what if we got actual celebrities to be locked up in that thing? And when I mean celebrities, I mean YouTubers? One huge YouTuber house? Yes please. Speaking of Rhett and Link, I've got a Good Mythical Morning jacket now. One of the best things I've splurged on, tbh. ~Can someone please explain the snail meme? Just please. It has been going on for too long for me to not know where in the world it came from. Snoilet?? WHY A SNAIL TOILET???? ~I'm participating in a math contest on the 16th. I think this year was the prime time of my nerdiness. I tried having a conversation with the lady at the hair salon a while back and she was like, "Oh, you go to [high school]? You play any sports?" and I go, "No. . ." which she replies with, "Are you in band or anything?" and I again say, "No," and then she asks, "What's your elective?" and I say, "History," and it was then I realized WOW my high school life looks pretty bland so far. My friends make up for it, don't you worry. ~As I was typing about my nerdiness, I realized I was in the National Honor Society thing at my school, which is basically Nerd Club. I accept this title as nerd noob. ~Don't even get me started with the whole story behind Enchanted by Taylor Swift. Just don't. You research it all yourself, I'll be here moping in the corner. ~What even is this weather? 90-degree weather some days and 50-degree mornings on other days? And indoors it's absolutely freezing? To bring a jacket or not to bring a jacket, that is the question. ~I'm probably going to open comments back up, because it's no fun having to approve comments anymore. It's not that I'm offended by the *ew* comments, I just don't want other people to see them. So when you comment, be considerate of others, a'ight? ~Imogen Heap is A+. Hide and Seek, sure. But the stuff on Ellipse and Sparks? Yassss. ~This is more BNWB (Books n' Writing Blog) material, but I actually read a bunch of books this year that need reviews! Even Daughter of Smoke & Bone needs a review, which is a book I read last year. Thing is with that book, I feel like I couldn't really concentrate that much on it during the bumpy rides to and fro school. So maybe I'll reread it and then give a review? I dunno. But this school year I read Anthem by Ayn Rand, Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Watsuki Houston, and we're wrapping up Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury pretty quickly now. Brb, crying now because Ray Bradbury reminds me of All Summer in a Day and I'm sure some of you know how traumatizing that story is for me. MARGOT JUST WANTED TO SEE THE SUN. Okay, enough stream of thoughts blogging for now. Was this post hip and edgy enough for you guys? Was it worth me not working on my English essay on Farewell to Manzanar? I think it was. Completely abandoning this website doesn't sound like something I'd want to do ever. At least, until I'm dead. Watch, I'll be the hippest 75-year-old woman on Weebly and all the teenyboppers will be like, "Go home, Grandma! No one even blogs anymore! Haven't you ever heard of hologram messaging?" and I'll just chat to my 80 million readers. And trust me, it'll be a 80 million of you guys because a) I'll be famous in one way or another and b) there'll be, like, 20 billion people alive by then, some of them living on other planets, so 80 million readers won't sound like a lot by then. Everybody says that time heals everything Alllllllright, with those Imogen Heap lyrics, I'll be logging out! Actually no, here's my quick reminder for those Apple users out there to check out Free on iTunes. Free music is life. Disappear by Seryn? Take My Love by The Lone Bellow? I'm Ready by Geographer? Should Have Known Better by Sufjan Stevens? Shhhh, there's no shame in being excited about free music. K bye!
It's Spring Break, and I wanted to post this music post! I was actually planning to put more, because heaven knows how much music I've found since December, but this is good enough, right? By the way, do you guys like the new site title? One of many to come. It comes from this beautiful video on Rhett and Link's second channel. Go check it out!
Now, in case you're just not as great with Spanish as me and you couldn't decode the horribly difficult Spanish blog title, we're gonna do some music time for the million time! I have a feeling this is gonna be a loooooong post so go ahead and click Read More below! I'm sort of grossed out that I haven't updated since December of last year when it's APRIL TOMORROW like what. I guess I'll just post what I have on that music post I've had saved in my drafts since forever, cuz' you guys deserve it!
So how are you guys? I'm glad they're still some people visiting this sad excuse of a site, but hey, you guys get the privilege of being called the "shizzliest"! Everyone else is just "shizzly". Anyway, I'm on Spring Break right now, and my plans are: ~do homework/study ~read a book or two ~find more music ~write ~do something productive I've already checked off parts of that list (and if you count a 53k word fic as a book, then I've done that, too. All in one night. Until 4 in the morning). Uhhhh, have I really talked about my high school life? You know it's bad when you can't remember because you haven't updated in, like, ten years!!!!! But no, it's been alright. I'm probably getting my first B on a report card when I'm used to straight A's (the horrors) but I'm taking that happy illusion of a B over the multiple 60%s I've gotten on quizzes. History is not my forte. I've met some rad people, key word "some", because I mostly just hang out with people I've known since middle school. Apparently more people than I thought are on Tumblr, so that's cool. Speaking of one the most embarrassingly geeky sites on the web, I update mine way more than this site (like every day basically), so if you're interested it's right here. Please note there are curse words and the occasional inappropriate joke, so ~bring your parents along.~ No, I'm kidding, please don't. Unless they're less than 40, they probably wouldn't understand most of it. Or, they're too cool for that stuff. . . You know what, you bring a trusted guardian to Tumblr and LIKE IT. My assignment for you until I update again: write a story about the Limbless Lovers. It's up to your interpretation. I should probably put this in the Writers page but that's abandoned far past revival and also, I'm lazy. I don't care if you just send me a crappy one liner about them, I WANT TO LOOK INSIDE YOUR MINDS. I'm opening the comments of this post for this very purpose, so make it good. Please. Small round green vegetables, ya weirdos. It has been an eventful year. Not that that's supposed to bring back any amazing accomplishments. I didn't meet the president or anything. And how can you live a year without any events? I guess that sentence is more of a fact than some heartwarming introduction to a post. But never mind that! This was the year of the start of high school and letting go of a few people. It was a year of talking to you guys. It was a year of learning how to take care of myself. Basically, 2014 was a year of growth for me. I think that's a good thing! Change can definitely be good. But there's one tradition I want to keep up, and that's the Song of the Year! After all, it was also a year of discovering more music. 2012's SotY was Ice Dance by Danny Elfman (still listen to it today), and 2013's was Inside a Boy by My Brightest Diamond (will never lose its awesomeness in my eyes). Now the question is, what is 2014's Song of the Year? There's always a part of me that dreads choosing one song for each year, because Lord knows how much time I spend repeating videos on YouTube, blasting my earbuds up with beautiful pieces, writing fics with music as my inspiration, crying myself dry because the connections I have to one song. There's a lot of different songs and artists that get me through the day. I find at least one new song that I love every two weeks. It's impossible for me to choose one song and truly say, "This song represents this year, to me, in music." You guys have seen those huge Music Time posts! The tag with the most posts on this site is probably Music. For this reason, I'm gonna be doing something that you guys may not be happy with, but I'm doing it anyway. I won't be choosing a Song of the Year this year. Now, quit your complainin'! You can't make me choose my favorite baby. You aren't gonna make me eat my toast without my butter. You're not gonna make me [insert strange metaphor here]. Because I have too many darn songs, alright?! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME! I'm kidding, by the way. Of course I'm choosing a song. I'm just hoping I give someone out there a mild scare. Did I? But that big paragraph up there is true. It's actually difficult to compare songs. I have scrolled through blog posts, flipped through journals, checked the "Liked Videos", and looked through my iPod. And here are the contenders: The Great Fire by OK Go Not too many people love OK Go nowadays. For me, it was the year of OK Go. I love the band, I adore their music. . . And though all the songs on their most recent album, Hungry Ghosts, are amazing, this one really stood out. ~~~~~ Wild by Royal Teeth This song has a story: during the summer of 2014, I was out and about with family when I heard this song playing. I liked it. And guess who didn't take note of the song title or the artist or ANYTHING ABOUT THE SONG??! Me. But I found it, thanks to secret recordings in Victoria's Secret. Still love this song, despite the hassle. ~~~~~ Breathe Me (Live in the Bowery Ballroom) by Sia I'm pretty sure a lot of us have known the song Breathe Me for a while now, but once I found this version, I was in love. I can feel the emotion and it's beautiful. ~~~~~ Center of Attention (Alternate Version) by Jackson Waters I think this sounds really cool and almost mysterious in a way. The end is my favorite part because it sounds so dramatic. Just wow. ~~~~~ Kettering by The Antlers At the start of the song, you'd think it just be the same sort of melody repeated again and again for 5 minutes. Nope, this song goes hard. It makes you feel the flippin' apocalypse is occurring in your soul. I don't think I'm exaggerating. ~~~~~ Flickers by Son Lux This is a horrible, horrible song. It sounds so depressing, then it hits you all at once with thoughts and emotions and things of the past. . . It's a great contender for 2014's SotY. ~~~~~ Don't Swim by Keaton Henson This song is crazy, man. I get goosebumps listening to this. The raw emotion coursing through this song is unbelievable. Amazingly beautiful volume warning at 3:25! ~~~~~ True Love by Coldplay (Davide Rossi remix) There is so much that is right in this piece right 'ere. First we've got Coldplay's True Love, which was the first song I truly adored on the album, then we got this flippin' remix that is way better than you would think. It surpasses the original in my opinion. ~~~~~ Riversong by A Fine Frenzy There isn't a song that A Fine Frenzy has put out and I don't like, but gawd. I think this takes the cake. "How does it feel to be so certain, without question, of your purpose, your position. . . of your place, of your home?" Well, that was 9 songs. Coincidentally the same amount of "nominees" as last year. How about we limit it down to Wild, Center of Attention, Kettering, Don't Swim, and True Love. Five "cream of the crop" songs, just like last time! Now for the hard part. . . *drum roll* The 2014 Song of the Year is. . . Center of Attention by Jackson Waters! It was so, so, SO difficult to choose this year's song. I was really torn between Don't Swim, Kettering, and Center of Attention because they've been songs that I enjoy listening to even after insane amounts of repeating. Don't Swim is sad, but boy, does it pick up. Same with Kettering. But Center of Attention is literally perfect. Perfect. I realized it as I made this post. It didn't need any picking up, but it happened anyway. It had really cool everything, to be honest. It didn't need hardcore guitars and drums and heartwrenching "ooh"s in the background, but it added it in. It's emotional. It has a story. I haven't gotten tired of it over the past few months, and I don't think I ever will. It went above and beyond, so now it's cataloged as one of Jazelyn's favorite songs! Wordle time? Wordle time. "Fun-to-cuddle-with-because-it's-warm-as-blazes". Best part.
Well, guys. That was 2014 for ya. Thanks for the few who decided to stick around and check up on the site ever so often. You're my excuse for procrastinating on things I should've done during the start of this winter break. But really, you rock! <3 Happy New Year! See ya in 2015! Stay warm, stay safe, and small round green vegetables. |
